Mental Preparation for 2019

from a talk given in Tahiti, 29 December 2018

There are two perspectives on time.  One is the commonly known time of yesterday, today and tomorrow.  In Hindi the same word is used for yesterday and for tomorrow.  It is the same word for death also: Kāl.  For death we also say someone’s time has come.  The Tahitian word is tau, and this word refers to far distant time in both the future and the past.  This expresses the sense of time as a whole cycle where the future and the past meet and become one.

Time is a rotating phenomenon and in spiritual practice we rotate the cycle of time in the mind.  Life occurs in cycles.  Regular human experience is lived through the annual cycle of the seasons, religious and cultural festivals.  The diurnal 24 hour cycle is said to be the foundation…

Talk for BK IT Professionals at Om Shanti Retreat Centre, Gurgaon, Delhi, 9 February, 2019

Is there a sleeping angel inside you?  Our subject today is Awakening the Angel Within.  So there must be a sleeping angel inside.  Is there a sleeping angel, or a sleeping devil?  You are working with information technology and artificial intelligence.  Artificial intelligence provides an extra dimension.  Have you all seen Steven Spielberg’s film Ready Player One?  It is a film about virtual reality – a reality that is not really there.  The players are not interested in the reality that is there, so they hardly participate in it.  They participate in another reality with other identities.  How many identities do you have?  Do you know all your births?  You can calculate them by looking at your present sanskaras.  You have enough information to calculate electronically what your births probably were by putting your…

Thoughts On Increasing Creativity

“Creativity is connected to humility and it moves quietly in the sacred resources of the soul. I’ve often believed it to be rooted in the energy of purity which is the bedrock of creation.” Dr. Sister Jenna

TO INCREASE CREATIVITY~

  1.  Keep allowing inner space to welcome new thinking and new ways of doing and being.
  2. Cultivate an attitude of creating a safe space for folks to share their stories with you. Believe it or not, it helps so much to create.
  3. Do your very best in being present.
  4. Be compassionate when listening.
  5. Keep your notebook close so you can jot down your flow of creativity when it comes.
  6. Be internalized when you can and observe where your thoughts are going.  If it is towards waste, creativity can’t thrive. Rather gently seek to find something of pure beauty to trigger consciousness back to openness and positivity.
  7. Lastly, ask the Highest Source of Creation -what next and listen as openly as possible.

By making this a regular practice and just being an open and caring human being, you can trigger more creativity in simple things like preparing a meal, writing a story, cleaning the stove…for there are countless humble efforts to save the world!

The Law of Belief

Keep your vision high!!!

Points to Ponder: February 4, 2019

I would like to relate to you an incident that someone on the spiritual path once shared with me. She is a mother of two kids and and her children used to give her a really hard time in the morning. First they wouldn’t wake up and when they did, they would not get ready for school and would fight between themselves and throw tantrums and she really dreaded the mornings. Then she was introduced to the fact that our external world is a mirror image of our internal world and that if she could create the scene of a beautiful and organised morning in her mind with utter conviction, it would manifest as the reality. She found the idea interesting and thought of experimenting with it. In the early morning meditation that she had been introduced to, she refreshed her mind and starting…
