Balance is Bliss~

Aloha and Namaste Dear Friend,

In these times it is important to share our joy and enthusiasm with each other…to create balance with the things of the spirit  that lift us beyond the things of this material world.

So…I felt to share with you today this story I came across about the late Robin Gibb(of the Bee Gees) and his wife Dwina Gibb in a book called :What is Spirit?  by Lexie Brockway Potamkin (with Art by Peter Max).

Robin and Dwina shared a spiritual path in their marriage.  Each had experienced Spirit at a very young age.  Robin through writing music as a child and Dwina through prayer and trying to visualise a clear picture of the Divine.

Robin has been known to say: “Music is my religion…I get from hearing a piece of music what many get from religion.  To me it is a very powerful spiritual motivator.”  After the death of his younger brother Andy, Robin became even more aware of his own spirituality.  He knew that “the body’s life was very short, and that Spirit was forever. It made me feel that time on Earth, in bodies, should be valued and used to nourish the spirit”.
Dwina felt: “that I had always been guided by Spirit…and that when I was very young, desperately wanted to see God. I didn’t quite believe this image of a big fellow with this big black book writing down good and bad deeds. I had a vision at the age of 8 that changed my mind to thinking of God as the cycles of life.  The concept of God as a judge slipped away because I wanted to feel love. Even though I loved life when I was young and still do, I have always felt disassociated, like this wasn’t my real home.  Luckily, in time, I was guided to a teacher who brought me home to God through a spiritual practice of mediation…and in 1998 I committed to the path of being a Brahmin through the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University.

My yogic practice as a Brahmin brings me the experience of being one with all that is.  Many yogas teach about enlightenment and reaching the light.  In this practice you can be in that light, see it, listen to it, feel it, and find knowledge–fast. You don’t have to sit in a cave for ten years.  In a moment of silence, it is as if I plug into a battery~~and everything flows. This has brought me total, unlimited love and happiness.”

This is the same yoga (Raja Yoga Meditation) that is shared in our Thursday Class (4:30 pm to 6:30 pm) called The Art of Stillness and on Sunday evenings along with Sister Deborah from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in guided and silent meditation.  Lucky you live Kauai…you don’t have to go all the way to India to partake of this blessed experience!!!Drop in some time~~~~~~~OM SHANTI
With Love and Respect,

Sister Shivalaya
