The Divine Gardner says, ‘become a fragrant flower‘. There are many kinds of flowers- there is the rose, then there is also the flower that has no beauty or smell that grows in the wild.
A garden is small, He says, a jungle is large. The garden is carefully tended to by the gardener. It has beautiful flowers that spread their fragrance everywhere, they bring happiness to those who see them. A garden is free from thorns because thorns bring sorrow, flowers bring happiness.
Am I a fragrant flower?
Fragrance comes from purity – in thought, word, action and intent. Where there is purity, there is happiness, contentment, peace. Why? Because I am successful. People think success is dependent on others liking me or what I do. Actually, the Divine Friend says, success is based on intent. If your intention is pure, you are already successful. Then, the fragrance of those qualities spreads far and wide without me having to do anything. It is indeed like a flower in the garden that radiates beauty and fragrance automatically..it is not an effort, it is part of its nature.
As I become purer, my happiness and contentment increase. Purity comes from remembering who I am and Whom I belong to, in other words, it comes from remembrance. When I forget who I am and fall into the trap of body consciousness, I become contaminated with all kinds of traits – comparison with others, jealousy, hustling, one-upmanship, desire to win and be right all the time, etc. When I am consumed by these emotions, I live my life in fear rather than in peace and contentment. My mind becomes toxic and toxins don’t release a fragrance as much as they release a stink.
Don’t be a thorn, says our Divine Friend.
A bad smell brings unhappiness and discomfort to people around- they hold their noses and try to get away as far and as quickly as possible. On the other hand, when I am content, when I am happy and peaceful, it lightens the mood for everyone. Even if a person might be feeling low, when a good natured, contented person walks in, they make everyone else feel better.
The good news, the Divine Friend says, is that you are a fragrant flower, fragrance is part of your nature…you just forgot who you are.
It is not something I have to learn, it is not a muscle I have to grow…it is who I am innately. All I have to do is remember…not just in the morning but throughout the day as I am walking, talking, moving around. I, am a peaceful soul. I, am a loveful soul. I, am a child of God. Then, along with remembering, let me follow that up with being in that awareness. What does peace feel like, look like? What does being loveful mean? Let me touch base with my own truth, let me step into my reality rather than simply contemplate it.
This is who I am, a fragrant flower. Now let me remain in that awareness.
Aloha Beautiful Soul,
Thank you for visiting Enlightened Answers. These writings are my on-going churnings of deep spiritual studies and reflection upon the self - Along with this, there is constant meditation. Both meditation and daily attention to spiritual study which leads to awareness of the self have immeasurably nourished me and increased the joy of living and serving I'm able to experience in these times of great and sudden change.
It has also been my fortune to be situated in the Hawaiian Islands in the midst of the Pacific Ocean where I landed with my son 31 years ago. The past 25 years, I've been on the oldest, northern most, and serenest island of Kauai.
Many don't realize that Hawaii is made up of a chain of seven islands- Kauai, the Garden Isle, is situated at the top of the chain and is often called the "crown" of the Hawaiian islands. Kauai is also called the Island of the Golden Light, and the Island of Discovery for good reason! Truly this is where I was led in order to discover the wonders of the inner golden light ignited by the Supreme Light. It is here that I continually reinforce the awareness that- I am a peaceful, loving soul, a being of light*- just as you are. This journey has led me to surrender the rest of this life to the Divine Beloved, the One who loves unconditionally and who teaches the method to return to our original nature of purity, love, wisdom, & altruism. Through these writings- I am building a fortress of light with the pure intention that others may strengthen their own light.
For over fifteen years, I've had the fortune of traveling to northern India- to the state of Rajasthan- where the Brahma Kumari World Spiritual University is perched atop Mt. Abu.
This wonderful oasis of light is also called Madhuban which means Forest of Honey. It is a pilgrimage place dedicated to the Remembrance of who we truly are -- eternal souls. This awareness also brings us into the natural relationship and remembrance of the Eternal One- the Creator God- Beloved of All.
I go to Madhuban to meditate and study in a fully spiritually charged atmosphere where others are there for the same purpose. We are a spiritual family who enjoy solitude, as well as unity. We enjoy delicious spiritually charged meals, beautiful gardens, angelic music, and communing with like-hearted souls from across the globe. Madhuban is a pure, divine container that serves those who wish to live according to the highest spiritual codes. It is a place designed for souls to have a deep, rich, and loving meeting with the Supreme Soul. My annual journeys there have enriched my life immeasurably, beyond words. I've become a peaceful soul who honors the peaceful soul of you. I am a lover of Truth and hope that you are able to glean deep soul answers from these writings. Take the jewels that touch you, make them your own, and share them, for "giving and receiving freely" is a good part to have at this time of great transformation.
